Dr. Barun Gorain was born and raised in India. He is the eldest of four siblings and grew up in a progressive mining community near Jamshedpur, now in the State of Jharkhand. Since childhood, he realized the importance of growing up in a supportive community that allows genuine and everlasting bonding for a joyful and vibrant living.
His interest in minerals and metals came natural to him, that led him to pursue a career in mineral engineering, obtaining his B.Tech degree from Indian School of Mines in Dhanbad and then completing a Ph.D from the Julius Kruttschnitt Mineral Research Centre, at the University of Queensland in Australia. Since then he has worked across the globe in the field of minerals and metals for the past 25 years.
Based out of British Columbia and later Ontario in Canada, Dr. Gorain was involved in developing innovative solutions to various challenges in mining and metals processing that took him to the Dominican Republic, Alaska, Nevada, the Peruvian Andes and the Atacama Desert of Chile. He has worked on projects in Tanzania, Zambia and South Africa as well as Saudi Arabia, Australia and Russia.
While keenly aware of the functional importance of minerals as a resource for manufacturing and everyday use in our lives, Dr. Gorain has become increasingly fascinated by the physical, biological, electro-chemical and energetic properties of minerals in both the earth and the human body.
He is dedicated to holistic, inclusive approaches in both professional and personal work. He is forever interested in researching new and emerging technologies whether they apply to improving industry, promoting social development, or enhancing individual health and well-being.
